Gutters in Seguin, TX

About twenty minutes east of the shop, out along the highway.

Seguin is an easy run for us and we are out there regularly. The town is known for its pecan trees, and that shows up in the gutters.

Pecans are a different problem

Pecan drop is heavier and coarser than live oak. Husks, twigs and nuts go in the channel along with the leaves, and they do not pack into a mat so much as they jam an outlet. The usual Seguin call is not a slow overflow along the run, it is one downspout that has stopped taking water entirely because something solid is wedged in the top of it.

Wider six-inch channel helps here more than it does elsewhere, simply because there is more room for coarse debris to move past the outlet instead of bridging it.

Older housing stock

There is a lot of genuinely old house in and around central Seguin, and old houses have old fascia. Before we quote a run in one of those neighborhoods we look closely at the board behind the existing gutter, because on a house that has been shedding water down the back of the gutter for years the wood can be soft even where the paint looks sound.
