Gutters in Cibolo, TX

New building, big roof planes, and a lot of water arriving at one corner.

About thirty minutes southwest, next door to Schertz.

Cibolo has grown quickly and most of what we see there is recent construction. That gives it a very specific gutter problem.

Big continuous rooflines

Modern elevations tend toward long unbroken roof planes and deep valleys, which is good for looks and bad for drainage. A valley concentrates the water off two roof faces into one narrow path and delivers it to a single point on the gutter. If the run below it is undersized, that point overflows every time, and it will do it in a rain that the rest of the house handles without complaint.

The fix is usually not a bigger gutter along the whole house. It is the right size gutter on the run that takes the valley, and a downspout placed directly where the water is arriving rather than at the tidy end of the run.

Young landscaping

The trees in the newer parts of Cibolo are still small, so leaf load is lighter than in the older towns. Cleaning is a smaller part of what we do there. That will change as the canopy fills in.

Drainage away from the slab

On tighter lots with houses close together, where the water goes after it leaves the downspout matters as much as the gutter itself. We spend time on kickouts and extensions in Cibolo.

For the sizing question under a big valley, read five inch versus six inch gutters.
